§ 4-203. Prohibited animals.

  • (a)

    A person commits an offense if he owns, possesses, harbors or otherwise maintains a prohibited animal (as defined in section 4-101) within the city.

    (b)

    An exception to this section applies to a student of the La Vernia Independent School District Vocational Agriculture Department, the Wilson County 4-H Program, or the La Vernia Future Farmers of America who is raising a hog for exhibition in a stock show. Regulations shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Pens shall be cleaned daily and must be at least 500 feet from neighboring residences.

    (2)

    Solid waste must be removed from the area at least once a week.

    (c)

    Failure to comply with the regulations in subsections (b)(1) and (2) of this section shall be cause for removal of such animal from the city.
